Ronnie Sumter, Vice President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The February 9th Board Association Minutes were read approved with one minor correction. The legal defense fund balance is $20,914.56 not $20,914.58.

Treasurer’s Report: Checking balance brought forward – $4,016.84

DPG Report: No report

Social Committee Report: St. Patrick’s Day dinner is March 18. Last day to sign up is March 11. Cost is $10.00 for residents and $12.00 for guests. Happy hour is at 5:00 and dinner is served at 6:00. The menu is Irish stew, salad, bread and ice cream. A champagne brunch is scheduled for April 29. The cost is $12.00 for residents and $14.00 for guests. Mimosas will be served at 11:00 and brunch will begin at 11:30. The menu is scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, cinnamon rolls and mimosas. Check the Voice for details.

GSMOL/Scamper Report: Ellen Duke encouraged everyone to join GSMOL as they represent mobile home owners in Sacramento and share information about pass throughs. She says we currently have 41 members in our park. If 15 members get together and vote we could have our own chapter here in our park.

Old Business: Frustrated residents are becoming increasingly concerned about the condition of our park. Residents complained about many problems including condition of the tennis courts, trees, driveways, streets, swimming pool deck and weeds. Many have reported the problems to management but have not had these issues fixed. The Board, once again, encouraged all residents to put their complaints in writing and give copies to the management and the Board. HOA membership is very important as greater member numbers make our positions stronger when dealing with management and The Sisters of Charity.

New Business: The HOA Board of Directors formed a Transition Committee made up of Board members and residents to meet and discuss our park’s pressing issues and report back to the HOA Board. The members are Mark Allen, Max Lynn, Derek Hanley, Don Webb, Ellen Duke and Cheryl Mrachek. The first meeting of this committee was Feb. 14. Three main points were discussed: how to increase HOA membership for strength in numbers, contact the Daughters of Charity and decide if an attorney to advise the residents was appropriate at this time. It was decided at the meeting that visits to non-members to encourage them to join the HOA was a good idea. Also, Mark Allen authored a letter to the Daughters of Charity to advise them of our organization. And, it was decided that an attorney could be hired after we have more information on the litigation that is occurring now between Parker Rice Corporation and The Daughters of Charity. A response letter was received from The Daughters of Charity thanking the committee for its interest and advising they would be in contact with the committee after litigation is settled with our current management.

Board member, Ellen Duke, said she feels the residents have an issue because the current management is taking our rent money each month but not providing satisfaction on maintenance problems. She encouraged everyone to put their complaints in writing.

Several residents would like more input as to what HOA does before they join and pay their $15.00 for membership. Board member, Ronnie Sumter, suggested a copy of the two letters and a copy of the minutes of this meeting be copied off and put in everyone’s mail tube. Another suggestion was to put the letters on the HOA website as the minutes of the meeting are always posted there. These suggestions will be taken under advisement by the Board and all information will be reviewed and approved.
